Our Cues / Reference MKC

MADE TO YOUR SPEC · REFERENCE MKC
Build your own
Pick the timber, the rings, the joint, the wrap and the weight. Or send us a photograph of what you have in mind and we will tell you honestly whether we can build it.
There is no configurator here on purpose. Too many combinations change the hours, and a form that spits out a number would either overcharge you or trap us. Tell us what you want and a person answers, usually the same day.
What you choose
Eight things change on a Muraki. You do not have to decide all of them. Most people pick the timber and the wrap, tell us roughly what they want the cue to feel like, and leave the rest to us.
01 · Timber
Eight species on the rack: bocote, ebony, leopardwood, bird’s-eye maple, purpleheart, hard maple, cocobolo and tulipwood. Each behaves differently under the tool and takes lacquer differently, so if you are torn between two, tell us how you want the cue to look in ten years and we will point you at one.
02 · Ring work
- Plain metal rings stainless, quiet and hard wearing
- Stone inlay rings turquoise is our usual, other stones on request
- Metal and stone together alternating, the most work of the ring options
- Abalone shell rings the same shell we use on the MKP series
- No rings at all wood straight through, nothing to catch the eye
If you have seen ring work you like on another cue, send the photograph and we will talk about it privately. We will build to your own design, but we do not copy another maker’s signature work and put it on a cue with our name in the joint.
03 · Weight and balance
Our standard butt is 15 oz, which puts a complete cue at roughly 19 oz once the shaft is on. That is the middle of the range most players use. We will build the butt heavier or lighter than that if you ask, and we can shift the balance point forward or back at the same time. If you already play with something you like, tell us its weight and we will match it.
04 · Engraving
A name, a date, a nickname, anything you like, and it does not cost extra. Most people put it on the butt cap where only they will see it. It can go on the forearm, near the joint or under the wrap instead. Tell us where and we will show you a photograph before it is cut.
05 · Joint pin
Radial, Uni-Loc, United, Wavy 1, Wavy 2, or 3/8 x 11. If you already own shafts you want to keep using, this is the one to get right. Tell us what your current cue takes and we will cut the same thread so your shafts still fit.
06 · Wrap
- Leather cowhide, deerskin, or embossed elephant grain, in a range of colours
- No wrap at all bare wood through the grip, in any species we stock
Leather grips better when your hands are warm. Bare wood stays cooler and shows the grain the whole length. Neither is more expensive than the other, so pick by feel rather than by price. If you are unsure, deerskin is the one most people keep.
07 · Bumper
Built to whatever you want. Most people never think about the bumper until it wears out, which is fair. If you have a preference on material, height or colour, say so and we will make it that way.
08 · The overall design
This is the part people find hardest to describe, so start with a picture. Send us anything: one of our own cues you want changed slightly, a drawing, a photograph of something you saw in a hall. We will tell you what is possible and what is not.
With inlay we set resin, contrasting timbers, zuma or abalone shell into the butt, cut and seated by hand. Patterns are made for your cue rather than pulled from a library.
Without inlay the butt stays as the tree grew it. Natural colour, natural grain, nothing set into it. Quicker to build and, a lot of players would argue, harder to get right.
How long a custom build takes
A plain butt is 4 to 7 days. An inlaid butt is 10 to 14. A design we have never built before sits at the top of that range or slightly past it, and we will give you a real date once we know what we are making. Then 10 to 14 days shipping, tracked, wherever you are.
WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY
Messages we did not expect
These are screenshots, not typed-out quotes. We asked each person before putting their words here. Nothing has been edited except cropping out phone keyboards and one message about pricing that was nobody else’s business.
“The inlay work is insane. Pics don’t even do it justice. Already got a buddy who wants one, I’m sending him your way.”
Jake M.

“You are an artist man. Omg I’m in love with you man.”
Ali A.

“I received it. It’s really good. The packaging is also very good. I tried it too, it’s awesome.”
Yaeyang

We have been selling to players in Vietnam for years. Shipping abroad is the new part, so these are the first customers overseas to write back. More will go up here as they come, good and otherwise, and we will not be quietly deleting the bad ones.
Tell us what you want built
Answer what you know and leave the rest blank. If all you can say is the wood and roughly what you want it to look like, that is enough to start. Nothing to pay to ask.
