Our Cues / MKP SERIES
Inlaid butt
Shell, stone or contrasting timber cut and seated into the butt itself, not just at the rings. Every piece is shaped to fit a cavity routed for it and nothing else, which is why these take two to three times as long as a plain butt.
This is the series we are proudest of, and the one that takes the most out of the bench. Eighteen references live today, five of them ebony but no two cut the same way. Look closely and tell us which one is closest to what you have in mind.

What we can set into a butt
The twelve cues above are our references, but the series is really a way of working rather than a fixed catalogue. If you want inlay, these are the materials that go into it.
- Abalone shell the iridescent one, blue through green through pink
- Zuma shell paler and calmer than abalone, easier to live with day to day
- Bone and dyed veneers for picture inlays and colour accents like the green points on MKP10
- Stone turquoise as standard, other stones on request
- Contrasting timbers pale wood set into dark, or the other way round
- Resin when you want a colour that does not exist in nature
Patterns are cut for your cue rather than pulled from a library. Send a photograph, a drawing, or just describe it, and we will tell you what is possible and what is not.
Want inlay in a different wood or stone?
The twelve above are our references, not the limit. We hold eight timbers on the rack and work in abalone, zuma, turquoise, resin and contrasting woods. Tell us the base wood and the material you want set into it.
