Plain Butt / The MK Series

THE MK SERIES · PLAIN BUTT · REFERENCE MK02
MK02 Ebony
No ring, no points, nothing to hide behind.
Costs less, but not because it is easier. There is no inlay work in a plain cue, so it is quicker. Ebony is still dense and stubborn on the lathe, and every line has to be true.
15 oz butt, about 19 oz complete · 4 to 7 days · Free engraving · Ships worldwide
Solid ebony
Dense, heavy, and unforgiving to turn. Real end grain at the joint, not a moulded surface.
Nowhere to hide
No ornament to pull your eye away from a bad line. Ask any cue maker which is harder to build.
Numbered and registered
A serial cut into the joint and written in our book beside your name.
Any wood, plain
Like the look but want bocote or maple instead? We build plain cues in anything on the rack.
This is what we build when someone asks for nothing at all.
Solid ebony, black leather, stainless rings to break the dark, and not one thing more. No inlay, no points, no contrasting veneer.
It costs less than the inlaid cues, but not because it is easier. Ebony is dense and stubborn on the lathe, and a plain cue hides nothing. Every line has to be true, because there is no ornament to pull your eye away from a bad one.
Plenty of players prefer this. A cue nobody comments on, that just does the job every Tuesday night. If you like the look but want a different wood, say so.
Look closer

The butt. Stainless rings with fine engine turned detail. The only decoration on the whole cue.

The wrap. Full grain leather, stretched and stitched by hand. Nothing between it and the wood.

The joint. Stainless pin and real ebony end grain. This is where you check the wood is wood.
These were photographed outside the shop rather than in a studio. We are reshooting them properly, but we would rather show you the real cue now than a nicer picture later.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY
Messages we did not expect
These are screenshots, not typed-out quotes. We asked each person before putting their words here. Nothing has been edited except cropping out phone keyboards and one message about pricing that was nobody else’s business.
“The inlay work is insane. Pics don’t even do it justice. Already got a buddy who wants one, I’m sending him your way.”
Jake M.

“You are an artist man. Omg I’m in love with you man.”
Ali A.

“I received it. It’s really good. The packaging is also very good. I tried it too, it’s awesome.”
Yaeyang

We have been selling to players in Vietnam for years. Shipping abroad is the new part, so these are the first customers overseas to write back. More will go up here as they come, good and otherwise, and we will not be quietly deleting the bad ones.
Want one plain?
Tell us the wood and the weight you play with. Ebony is the one we photograph, but any of the five can be built with no ornament at all.
