MK04 Bird’s-Eye Maple

A thousand small eyes in pale wood. It moves as the light moves.

Quoted, not priced. Wood, weight, inlay work and engraving all change the number, so we quote each cue on its own. Ask and you will get a real figure the same day.

One maple in a thousand

Bird’s eye figure is rare and nobody has properly explained why it happens. You cannot fake it and you cannot farm it.

Inlay set by hand

Each turquoise petal chiselled into the wood, filled, then sanded flush. Most of a morning per cue.

Numbered and registered

A serial cut into the joint and written in our book beside your name.

You see it before it ships

We photograph your actual boards before we cut, and the finished cue before it leaves.

Bird’s eye figure turns up in maybe one maple in a thousand, and nobody has ever properly explained why.

Hundreds of small eyes swirl through pale grain, and they shift as you turn the cue. Photographs never quite catch it. This is one you really have to see in your hand, which is awkward for us because we sell online.

We put the same turquoise ring on it, and honestly that took three goes before we were happy. Pale wood, black leather, one narrow line of blue holding them apart. Get the spacing wrong by a millimetre and the whole thing falls flat.

Our standard butt is fifteen ounces, about nineteen as a complete cue, with the balance set a touch forward. If you play with a long bridge you will feel why.

Look closer

Close view of bird's-eye figure in the maple grain

The eyes. Hundreds of them, each one a tiny swirl in the grain. They catch light differently as you rotate the cue.

Turquoise inlay ring where the leather wrap meets the maple

The ring. Pale wood, black leather, one narrow line of blue between them. Three attempts to get this spacing right.

Joint end of the bird's-eye maple cue showing the stainless pin

The joint. Ivory collar, stainless pin, and real maple end grain behind it. This is where you check the wood is real.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY

Messages we did not expect

These are screenshots, not typed-out quotes. We asked each person before putting their words here. Nothing has been edited except cropping out phone keyboards and one message about pricing that was nobody else’s business.

“The inlay work is insane. Pics don’t even do it justice. Already got a buddy who wants one, I’m sending him your way.”

Jake M.

Customer message from Jake M. saying the cue hit different, the inlay work is insane, and he is sending a friend our way

“You are an artist man. Omg I’m in love with you man.”

Ali A.

“I received it. It’s really good. The packaging is also very good. I tried it too, it’s awesome.”

Yaeyang

Customer message confirming the cue arrived, the packaging was very good and the cue plays well

We have been selling to players in Vietnam for years. Shipping abroad is the new part, so these are the first customers overseas to write back. More will go up here as they come, good and otherwise, and we will not be quietly deleting the bad ones.
